Best possible treatment for a lifelong disease

Haemophilia is a chronic disease that requires lifelong treatment. Patients and their relatives shoulder a tremendous responsibility in the daily management of their condition, including keeping track of their medication (factor therapy) usage and maintaining a record of their personal bleeding incidents.

An assessment of the needs of both patients and healthcare professionals revealed that the previous method of recording drug usage and bleeding incidents did not provide the necessary support for patients in their daily lives, nor did it establish a solid foundation for choosing the correct treatment.

Decision Support in Treatment

The project has resulted in the develop of a telemedical concept that provides patients with haemophilia and healthcare professionals the best possible foundation for making informed, individual choices in treatment.

The project has resulted in more accurate information on patients' bleeding episodes and their use of factor treatment, a digital tool for fostering more qualified dialogue between patients and doctors. Additionally, the concept promotes patient empowerment, enabling patients to take control of their disease.

The project, titled 'Decision Support in the Treatment of Haemophilia,' was a collaboration between The Danish Haemophilia Society, the two haemophilia centers at Rigshospitalet and Aarhus University Hospital, and the two telemedical centers in the Capital Region and Central Denmark Region.
